Marbocyl 10% is a wide spectrum marbofloxacin veterinary antibiotic used for treatment of cattle bacterial diseases including acute mastitis treatment in cattle.

Composition:
Marbocyl 10% contains:
- 100 ml of sterile aqueous solution containing 10% of marbofloxacin as active ingredient.
- monothio-glycerol 0.1%
- m-cresol as preservatives 0.2%
- disodium edetate Ph.Eur as a chelating agent 0,01 %
- It’s is packaged in amber type II glass vials of 50 ml, 100 ml, and 250 ml
Marbocyl indications:
- It is indicated in the treatment of respiratory infections caused by susceptible strains of organisms.
- It is also indicated in the treatment of acute E.coli mastitis.
Dosage and administration:
2 mg/kg (1 ml/50 kg) in a single daily injection.
CATTLE:
The antibiotic is administered by:
Intramuscular, subcutaneous, or intravenous routes for 3 to 5 days.
pharmacological properties:
–Marbofloxacin is a synthetic, bactericidal antimicrobial that belongs to the fluoroquinolone group which acts by inhibition of DNA gyrase.
-It is effective against a wide range of Gram-positive bacteria (in particular Staphylococci, Streptococci) and Gram-negative bacteria (Escherichia coli, Salmonella typhimurium, Citrobacter freundii Enterobacter cloacae, Serratia marcescens, Morganella morganii, Proteus).
Marbocyl withdrawal periods:
MEAT: 6 days.
MILK: 3 days.
Further information:
- Marbofloxacin is safe for use in pregnant and lactating cows.
- No need to expect severe side effects at doses up to 3 or 5 times the recommended dose in cattle.
- Intramuscular or subcutaneous injections are well tolerated although transitory inflammatory lesions without clinical impact can occur at the injection site.
- Following the withdrawal of the first dose, use the product within 28 days.
