Furosemide 5% is a veterinary diuretic for cats and dogs used in conditions such as dog & cat edema as it’s a drug of furosemide for animals.

Composition:
Each ml of Furosemide 5% contains:
Active substances:
Furosemide: 50 mg
Excipients:
Sodium metabisulfite (E223) 1 mg Methyl-p-hydroxybenzoate (E218) 1 mg Propyl-p-hydroxybenzoate (E216) 0.1 mg
Sodium hydrochide
Water for injection.
Indications:
– Oedema.
– Support the treatment of cardiac diseases.

Contraindication:
Furosemide 5% is not to be used with:
– Severe liver damage.
– Renal failure with anuria.
– Hypokalemia, hyponatremia.
– Conditions of decreased blood volume with or without accompanying hypotension.

Target species:
Furosemide 5% is a diuretic for cats and dogs.
Dosage for each species, route and method of administration:
By intramuscular or intravenous injection: 2.5-5 mg furosemide per kg bodyweight, twice daily; if necessary, the dosage of Furosemide 5% can be doubled.
Advice on correct administration:
-Due to possible hypersensitivity reactions, direct skin contact should be avoided during application.
-Wear gloves for this.
Withdrawal period:
Not applicable.
Special storage precautions:
-Store below 25°C.
-Do not refrigerate or freeze.
-Protect from light.
-Once opened, use immediately.
-Store out of sight and reach of children.
Special warnings:
The combination of furosemide and digoxin leads to decreased digoxin secretion and thereby to an increased plasma level of digoxin.
In that case, the dose of digoxin should be reduced.
The safety of this veterinary medicinal product has not been established during pregnancy and/or lactation.
Overdose: (symptoms, emergency procedures, antidotes): With excessive use:
– Dehydration.
– Electrolyte imbalance.
Do not mix with other veterinary medicines.
Special precautions:
Any unused veterinary medicinal product or waste materials derived from such veterinary medicinal products should be disposed of in accordance with local requirements.
